About Us

MissyMya, an entertainment company making work for theatre, film and books, was founded by Anjali Mya Chadha and Carmen Gaur.

Our first project, a solo show, The Dateless Wonder, premiered at Watermans Art Centre before embarking on a national tour to rave reviews and great audience feedback. The Dateless Wonder was nominated for the Meyer-Whitworth award - the largest prize for playwriting in the UK.

Dadism, MissyMya's 2nd show, also premiered at the Watermans Art Centre, a comedy about a man entering fatherhood for the first time.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of suffrage, we co-produced Food for Thought, with Jatinder Verma and Tara Arts for their month-long women’s festival. Four actors/writers were developed in creating their own solo stories, with one of the pieces going on to be entered and longlisted for the 4th Estate Short story Literary Prize.

In collaboration with Brown Girls Book Club and Tara Arts, MissyMya ran a series of creative workshops for South Asian Women celebrating the 20th anniversary of Meera Syal’s novel Life isn't all HaHa HeeHee. This sold-out event explored the themes of the novel with each participant penning their own response to the book.

In 2021 MissyMya added an online academy to its portfolio after identifying a need for emerging creatives to access help and guidance without financial and regional barriers

Anjali is an experienced Dyslexic Creatives support practitioner, having mentored many Nurodivese Artists. She has run numerous workshops on the art of writing and storytelling for companies such as 'The Actors Centre' and 'Tara Arts.’

A former Artistic Associate with Tara Arts, Anjali worked on various projects creating an industry reputation for making the arts ecology accessible to marginalised artists.

She has used expertise to create a comprehensive set of online tutorials for neurodivergent and emerging creatives.

Carmen has a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from The University of Warwick, in English Literature and Creative Writing. She has always had a zest for storytelling.

Whilst at Warwick, Carmen was fortunate enough to start her professional writing career. She wrote and developed five stories based on The Panchatantra (Indian Fables) for Tara Arts’ Covid-19 Lockdown program for children aged 6+. They were performed by high profile actors such as Nitin Ganatra (EastEnders) and Dr Sita Thomas (Milkshake, Channel 5).

“Short, yet timeless, soothing, yet profound, Tara Tales

is a generous offering of theatre and culture that would

be a welcome addition to the family bedtime routine…

Tara’s tender teachings of The Panchatantra are an

excellent place to go.”

(4-star review) A Younger Theatre.

Carmen was presented with an outstanding talent award for an original piece of writing selected for publication by Young Writers, an organisation she has been involved with during her writing career. Her poems have been selected and published numerous times.

She is also the recipient of the ‘The Prize for Excellence (English Literature)’ by the London Schools Gold Club.
